Pura Vida literally translates to, “Pure Life,” in English. When you go to Costa Rica you begin to feel the, “slow down effect.” Everyone is on what they call Tico Time and time is only a figment of our imagination sort of vibe. It is the idea that this life is beautiful and should be appreciated in the present moment. During my stay, the locals were very friendly and very chilled out people. I consider myself a very chill and easy-going person so this lifestyle spoke to me on so many levels. The phrase Pura Vida is used for just about anything from saying hello/goodbye to someone, congratulating someone on an accomplishment, words of encouragement, or just because something awesome happened. The rich amount of biodiversity that the country holds definitely encourages the pure and authentic lifestyle of enjoying life for all that the Earth has given us; the materialistic things do not always matter. Costa Rica is one of the most lush and beautiful countries you will encounter in Central America and you immediately will feel the vibes of Pura Vida the second you leave the airport. With all this talk about global warming and how us humans are ruining our planet, it is refreshing to see there are still people in the world (a whole country worth) that appreciate the beauty in nature and that is all us humans really need.
